Here are 7 of the most expensive movies of the year that terribly flopped at the box office:

Shaandaar

Before the movie released, Alia and Shahid had taken the entire country by storm with their film promotions. However, as soon as the movie crashed at the box office, they both went MIA. The film’s budget amounted to a whopping 68 crores, out of which not much was recovered at the box office. And with that, one of the most awaited movies of 2015 became one of the biggest flops of the year.

Singh Is Bliing

The Singh is King sequel was another movie we all were eagerly waiting to watch. The trailer had really impressed us with the extra bling and the entry of the beautiful Amy Jackson. Unfortunately the film did not do well at the box office and didn’t recover much from the 92 Crore budget.

Phantom

Phantom was one movie that had blown our minds with its amazing concept, great music and the thrilling action sequences. But that was only before the movie had released. The movie failed to connect with the audience and failed to make the impression it should’ve. The 70 crore movie thus bombed at the box office.

Dil Dhadakne Do

After Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Zoya Akhtar had raised the bar and even our expectations from her. With a huge star cast, beautiful songs and expensive set up, we were all ready to have our minds blown by Zoya’s next venture. But the movie failed to provide something new to the audience and people lost interest in spite of the star cast and beautiful imagery. And thus, the 86 crore spent on the movie couldn’t be completely recovered.

Bombay Velvet

Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet was another movie we couldn’t wait to watch. Kashyap fans were experiencing mixed emotions. Some were happy to see the legend entering mainstream cinema, while the others were skeptic, but we all watched it anyway just to be disappointed. With a budget of a whooping 110 crore, the movie was a complete disaster at the box office.

Tevar

Arjun Kapoor showed great promise in Ishaqzaade, 2 States and Finding Fanny, but his Tevar did not work for his latest release. Being Salman’s fan did not help him either to fetch the 60 crores that was spent in the making and the movie was declared a flop.

Roy

Some movies work wonders and some movies don’t. Roy had a promising future. With Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez as the lead cast, chart-breaking music and a unique plot, the movie should’ve soared but it didn’t due to the boredom of slow and cliched romance. And thus, the 40 Crore budget was not met.
